LIVESTOCK NUTRITION WORKSHOP Comes to Big Island

Join Dr. Woody Lane and the Hawaii Grazing Lands Coalition for a livestock nutrition workshop.

Workshop topics include:

Basic Livestock Nutrition 101 — Energy, Protein, digestibility values, livestock growth and milk curves, forage nutritional value, different types of forages. The principles and practical applications and numbers. Raising livestock on grass, the nutritional aspects of growing and finishing them for markets. Tips to help make good decisions about our feeds.

Mineral and Vitamin Nutrition — A review of what animals need, what to feed, what to avoid, and some practical mineral and vitamin problems that we sometimes encounter.

NRCS programs overview and information session.

Artificial-Rearing of orphan lambs, kids, and calves, Weaning, Early-weaning — Young animal nutrition. How to feed orphans (lambs, kids, calves) so they are healthy, how to wean them economically and successfully.

When and Where:
September 12, 2015 at the Waimea State Conference Room, Waimea, Hawaii.
September 14, 2015 at the UH CTAHR Komohana Complex, Hilo, Hawaii.
Registration is from 8:30-9:00am on both days; same program agenda at each location, ending by 3:30pm; Lunch is on your own.
