If you weren’t at Triple D Ranch this morning, you missed a great Pasture Walk. Antone, Duane, Barbara and Sheila DeLuz opened their ranch to folks interested in learning about their grass-fed and grass-finished beef. All their beef is sold in Hawaii at top market prices … it’s that good! And their pasture condition, animal health, animal performance and grazing management methods are spot-on. This hard-working family loves the land and their cattle. And it shows.
Duane and Antone shared with us how they produce high quality beef while maintaining high quality pastures. They gave us a history of the ranch, talked about their forage grasses and legumes, herd health practices, herd management, meat quality characteristics, the importance of consistency in animal quality for slaughter, and shared some of their important “lessons learned”. We met their low-stress steers in the pasture, and trust me, happy cows come from Triple D Ranch (not that state that begins with CA). And then, …they BBQ’d their beef for us! YUM! What a potluck!
